Post-tensioning and cable-stayed
The use of the post-tensioning system in civil works began more than 50 years ago and its development has allowed the construction of lighter structures with longer spans, with a more rational use of the materials employed. Grupo ORION, through the MK4 patent, offers these services as a company specialised in the execution of post-tensioned steel, installing from the classic passive and active anchors and couplers, to the most modern ones with anti-corrosion electrical protection or retestable in bridges and viaducts of the most diverse complexity, with highly qualified trained personnel and the most modern and efficient machinery on the market.

Post-tensioning in Civil Works
The use of the post-tensioning system in civil works began more than 50 years ago and its development has allowed the construction of lighter structures with longer spans, with a more rational use of the materials employed.
The ORION Group, through the MK4 patent, offers these services as a company specialised in the execution of post-tensioned steel, installing from the classic passive and active anchors and couplers, to the most modern ones with anti-corrosion electrical protection or retestable in bridges and viaducts of the most diverse complexity, with highly qualified trained personnel and the most modern and efficient machinery on the market.
Post-tensioning in Buildings
In addition to its use in civil works, this type of system solves the architectural problem of the large open spaces that are currently being planned or complex industrial installations, such as nuclear power plants, storage silos, warehouses, etc…
It solves the required stresses generated by the large spans with the minimum thickness of the slabs.
Cable-stayed
Grupo ORION, as a national benchmark in the repair and reinforcement of metal and concrete structures, could not ignore the specific difficulties presented by this type of structure.
The experience accumulated over the years by the firm MK4 enables ORION to repair and replace both steel cables and strands and the complete stay cable system, achieving optimum production compatible with the sequence of repair and general construction of the structure, so as to minimise the impact of the assembly of the stay cables on the main intervention cycle.
Replacement of tie rods
A cable-stayed bridge, in civil engineering, is a bridge whose deck is suspended from one or more central pylons by means of shrouds.
It differs from suspension bridges in that the main cables are arranged from pile to pile, the deck being supported by vertical secondary cables, and because suspension bridges are mainly tensile, while cable-stayed bridges have parts that are tensile and parts that are compressive.
With the passage of time, the stay cables can become slack, degrade or corrode, endangering the structure of the bridge, and must be replaced.
External post-tensioning
Post-tensioning is an ingenious way of reinforcing concrete in construction. It sometimes allows constructions to be erected that would otherwise have been impossible.
The use of post-tensioning allows for thinner concrete sections, wider spacing between supports, stiffer walls to resist lateral loads and firmer foundations to withstand the effects of soil shrinkage and expansion.
Concrete possesses what engineers call “compressive” strength, meaning that it can easily support its own weight within a structure.
